Textiles - More than Just Clothing
Salvation Army and Baystate Textile boxes are located at the transfer station. As long as they are clean and dry, you can donate the following textiles in any condition:
Clothing (including Socks, Undergarments, Bras, etc.) | Fabric / Material Scraps | Stuffed Animals and Soft Toys | Bedding (Pillows, Comforters, Sheets, Pillow Cases, Blankets, etc.) | Table Linens |

Styrofoam Peanuts
They are reused by residents and local business. A collection box is located at the transfer station.
Leaves, Brush, Grass Clippings
Bring them to the transfer station. The brush will be chipped, and the leaves and clippings will be composted. Compost and wood chips are free for residents.
Eyeglasses
The Lion’s Club has collection boxes in the Library, Senior Center, and Town Hall (entrance by the Tax Collector’s office).
Furniture & Working Appliances
Only items that need no repair and are in good condition. Contact WAIM. Their number is 860-456-7270.
Workable, Usable Items
Workable, usable items can be dropped off or picked up in the swap-shop (download a printable flyer), at the Transfer Station, or taken to WAIM. Their number is 860-456-7270.

Building materials
There is a reuse area next to the scrap metal container at the Transfer Station where larger usable items, including building materials, can be placed. The ReCONNstruction Center in New Britain, Connecticut accepts used, in good condition building materials. Contact them at 860-597-3390.
Books
Two collection containers - Discover Books and Salvation Army - are located at the Transfer Station.
Electronic forums abound for trading or selling used items. Try Storrs Freecycle or Buy Nothing Mansfield - items are traded for free.
