Cope will return for the 2022-2023 school year as we transition from two Mansfield Elementary School campuses into one great big school! Not all of the grades will be participating in each semester. Fourth graders will be invited to participate during the Winter/Spring semester with registration opening up in 2023!
COPE is an in-school, mentoring program run by Mansfield Youth Services that has successfully supported elementary school aged youth in our community for many years! COPE utilizes UConn students as positive role models for their paired COPE mentee(s) on a weekly basis throughout the academic semester. COPE meets once per week during the regularly scheduled lunch; therefore, no academic time is missed by COPE participants.
The objectives of the COPE Program are to:
- Connect your child with a positive role model to build a relationship with.
- Offer your child the opportunity to meet other students and build new friendships.
- Provide a supportive environment where your child will enjoy engaging with their mentor and other COPE members in planned, creative, and fun activities.
- Encourage your child to share their feelings and experiences with their mentor.
If you're interested in having your child participate in COPE, please complete the below registration forms and return them to your child's school psychologist. Priority deadline for spring semester is Wednesday February 15, 2023.
