Economic Development Commission

The EDC’s primary mission is to promote the economic growth of Mansfield by monitoring economic conditions and making recommendations to the Town Council. The EDC plays a lead role in implementation of the Town’s economic development strategy and partners with surrounding towns to promote business development throughout the region.

Current Initiatives

Opportunity ZoneThe Town of Mansfield includes a federally designated Opportunity Zone for economic development as part of a census tract in northern Mansfield. This designation provides a federal tax incentive for investors to reinvest unrealized capital gains into opportunity zones through opportunity funds. Qualifying investments include a broad range of commercial and residential investments. If you are interested in learning more about the Opportunity Zone, please contact Cynthia van Zelm at or 860.429.2740.

Business Visitation Program: To learn more about opportunities and challenges for local businesses, Mansfield EDC representatives are meeting with local businesses. Contact EDC staff if you would like the EDC to visit your business.

Business Recognition: The EDC celebrates achievements and milestones of local businesses through features on the Town website and by issuing press releases to local publications. If you know of a business that is celebrating a milestone or other achievement, let us know!

The EDC meets on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Mansfield Town Hall.
